Your bank feed, filed and invoiced.

Ledgerline reads twelve months of your bank transactions, matches each payment to the client who sent it, and writes the invoice pack your accountant asks for. Made for people who bill by the project and do their books at eleven at night.

Six of the 61 transactions Ledgerline read from one designer's March feed. The £980 transfer is left unfiled on purpose: a tool that reconciles everything on the first pass is a tool nobody should trust with their tax.

How a month gets filed

Three passes, run every morning. None of them ask you to open a spreadsheet.

It reads the feed

Ledgerline joins to your bank through Open Banking and pulls twelve months of transactions the day you start, then re-reads every morning. There is nothing to export and nothing to upload.

It names the payment

Each credit is matched to the client who sent it, using the reference they typed, the amount, and the date against your own invoices. It learns that “SQ *TURNSTONE” is Turnstone Studio and stops asking. When it genuinely cannot tell, it asks once.

It writes the pack

On the first of the month you get one PDF invoice per client, VAT applied at the rate you are registered for, and a spreadsheet of the year so far. Your accountant opens it and stops emailing you.

The one thing Ledgerline will not do is invent a name. A payment with nothing on it stays unfiled, in red, until a person claims it — you can see that on the ninth of March above.

What it costs

£12 a month or £120 for the year, which is two months free
  • Twelve months of history read on day one
  • Matching rules you can open, edit and teach
  • VAT at 0%, 5% or 20%, and a switch for the month you register
  • One PDF invoice per client, per month
  • A year-to-date spreadsheet your accountant can open
  • Everything out as CSV, whenever you ask

What it does not do. Ledgerline will not file your Self Assessment and will not talk to HMRC for you. It hands your accountant a clean, totalled pack and they file it. That split is the whole point, and pretending otherwise would be the expensive kind of helpful.

Questions people actually ask

Which banks does it read?

Every UK bank that offers read-only Open Banking access: Monzo, Starling, NatWest, Lloyds, HSBC, Barclays, Tide, Revolut Business and about thirty others. If yours is missing, tell us the name and we will either add it or say plainly that we cannot.

Does Ledgerline ever see my bank password?

No, and it never can. You authorise the connection inside your own bank's app. What arrives at Ledgerline is a list of transactions — read-only, no ability to move a penny, and you can withdraw the connection from your bank at any time without telling us first.

I am not VAT registered yet.

Then the VAT line stays empty and your totals are simply what you earned. On the month you register, you set the rate and Ledgerline starts adding it to new invoices. Past invoices are not rewritten.

What happens when the free month ends?

We ask whether you want to carry on. If the answer is no, everything you have already generated still downloads as PDF and CSV for another ninety days, because holding your own invoices hostage would be a strange way to earn £12.

Can one client pay a retainer and a project in the same month?

Yes. Every payment from a client lands on that client's one invoice, and you can split it into lines — retainer, project, expenses — before you send it. Nobody wants three invoices to the same studio.

Start with the month you are behind on

Email us the name of your bank. We set up the connection, read your last twelve months, and send the first pack back before the end of the week. Ledgerline is small enough that a person does this bit.

There is no signup form on this page — there is not one yet. If the pack is wrong, all you have lost is an email.
